How to get access to HARMONIE-AROME source codes

For research purposes, the HARMONIE source codes are available under the conditions written down in Appendix 2 of the HIRLAM-ALADIN Agreement  (Conditions for use of the shared ALADIN-HIRLAM System, or parts thereof, for scientific or technical non-commercial research purposes by users not Members of either the ALADIN or HIRLAM Consortia).

To get access to the code for research purposes, please download and fill in the ALADIN-HIRLAM Research License Template - 2017 icon , let your institute/management sign the licence agreement and send it to Jeanette Onvlee, KNMI, P.O.Box 201, 3730 AE De Bilt, The Netherlands. After counter-signature, a copy of the license signed by both parties will be returned to you. Het HIRLAM system manager will then be authorized to provide you with aces to the code and further information. Please note that user support is limited.

Computer vendors will in general be allowed access for benchmarking purposes in connection with tendering procedures for a (future) computer system for a HIRLAM member. The HIRLAM member is responsible for providing the benchmarking code and ensuring that the computer vendors involved sign a benchmark license, and an associated non-disclosure agreement. The benchmark license can be downloaded here.

All commercial use of the HARMONIE-AROME by third parties not member of either HIRLAM or ALADIN consortia, is prohibited unless otherwise decided by the joint ALADIN General Assembly – HIRLAM Council.

How to get access to the HIRLAM source codes

This annex also forms the licence agreement. To get access to the code please sign the license agreement in and send it to Jeanette Onvlee, HIRLAM-C programme manager, KNMI, P.O. Box 201, 3730 AE De Bilt, The Netherlands. On receipt of the signed licence agreement, the system manager will be authorized to send you download information. Please note that user support is limited.

On the basis of article 8 of the Cooperation Agreement between ALADIN and HIRLAM consortia, national meteorological services belonging to the ALADIN consortium are automatically entitled to a license permitting use of all parts of the HIRLAM code for their official use and for research purposes.

The HIRLAM member is responsible for providing the benchmarking code and ensuring that the computer vendors involved sign a HIRLAM research license, and an associated non-disclosure agreement. Commercial use of the HIRLAM code, including routine weather forecasting, by parties not member of the HIRLAM consortium is prohibited unless otherwise decided by the HIRLAM Council.
