I see that some changes has been made to make the climate branch at
ECMWF work. I actually made similar changes some time ago and was able to run
a month long experiment at ECMWF, which pleased all of us here at KNMI
no end. In ClimBD.sms you made a change to the evaluation of the setting
of the first boundary input file (the double brackets [[ ). I would
suggest it is simpler to change this into a simple test, so replace the
double brackets by a single square bracket, because that is really what
you want to do here: test whether this parameter has been set. I guess
it works either way.

I have also tried to make some modifications to run the climate model
from ERA interim analysis at ECMWF. The unexplicable thing there is that
MARS fails in the interpolation of the spherical harmonics fields. I
don't see how this is different from the analysis_only setup. I really
want it to work on the ERA boundaries because the ERA data sets are, or
can be made available to academic users, so this would solve one of the
challenges for the academic model, ie. supplying boundary data.

Any suggestions?

Ben

Ben,

I'm happy that you have started using the climate branch. I have no idea what could cause the problems with MARS and ERA data. Do you have any output from the logfiles?

As regarding the maintenance of the climate branch I'm more than happy to let the climate community take care of adding bugfixes as they are discovered.
