The Council's decisions about HIRLAM-B

E-mail Print PDF

At the HIRLAM Council meeting recently held at ECMWF in Reading a large step has been taken in de direction of HIRLAM-B.

All present members confirmed that they will continue with the HIRLAM-B project, starting January 1st 2011. Lithuania will join the consortium and Latvia's acceding membership will not be renewed. A new MoU and updated strategy are in a pretty advanced state.

The council unanimously requested Jeanette Onvlee to continue as Programme Manager for the next phase and Jeanette was happy to accept the position. The management group wil furthermore consist of 6 project leaders for Data Assimilation and Use of Observations, Physics, Dynamics, Probabilistic Forecasting, System and Applications and Operational Cooperation, respectively. We expect the application process for the project leaders to start in september. This will be announced here.

ASM presenters: request for papers for NL57

E-mail Print PDF

Like every year I'd like to ask you for a written summary of the presentation(s) you gave at the ASM in Krakow to be published in the HIRLAM Newsletter No. 57. The deadline for submission is set after the summer holidays, at 15th August. But if you can send it to me sooner that's also very welcome.

This newsletter will also be provided as hardcopy because there is still a quite numerous request to have it like that.

Nice stories and pictures of extreme travelling due to the volcano ashes are also welcome! Patricia is collecting them to make a nice summary.

Guidelines

You can send your contribution in Word, OpenOffice and LaTeX. You can use attached style sheets that are rather close to the final layout. However, all text will be transferred into a PDF print proof, to get a uniform layout and to ensure everything can be printed. So the final layout will be different from what you submit.

Style sheets including guidelines (still based on NL55, will be changed second half of May):

The presentations held during the not to forget joint ASM/ALADIN Wk in Krakow can now also be found in the HIRLAM All Staff Meeting 2010/ALADIN 20th Workshop part in DOCman.

For the summaries and poster I still refer for the moment to the ALADIN website.

Please send your travel adventures to Patricia Pottier or me so that we can compile a nice summary and see who suffered most! Pictures are also welcome.
