Welcome to the new HIRLAM homepage

ASM presenters: request for papers for NL55

E-mail Print PDF

Like every year I ask everyone who gave a presentation at the All Staff Meeting to send me a summary of the presentation for the next newsletter. They will be included in Newsletter No. 55.

The deadline for the contribution is 30 June 2009. But earlier is also welcome!

Guidelines

You can send your contribution in Word, OpenOffice and LaTeX. You can use attached style sheets that are rather close to the final layout. However, all text will be transferred into a PDF print proof, to get a uniform layout and to ensure everything can be printed. So the final layout will be different from what you submit.

New website launched

E-mail Print PDF

The new HIRLAM website is launched today. It is not completely ready yet (it will never be I guess). But it contains enough information to start with. The website gives access to new information in the system, and to a copy of the old website in case the information is not migrated yet. There are a few things I like to highlight here.

User administration

All registered users have user profiles, which are very basic now. The user profiles will be extended with more information after the all staff meeting. The advantage of these user profiles is that you can update the information yourself if needed. Also there is help in case of lost passwords/usernames. In near future this database will be synchronised with the trac/wiki users.

Document management

There is a document management system called DOCman in which all documents will be stored. This concerns documents like meeting reports, newsletters, technical reports, presentations.

Calendar of Events

We have a calendar of events that lists all interesting events like workshops, other scientific meeting and so on.

system wiki and mailman mailing lists

The HIRLAM system wiki and the mailman mailing lists are kept in place and function. We're working on a search engine that makes the information in the mailing lists archives' better accessible.

And more..

Please take your time to explore the website, by using the menu on the leftside.

At the All Staff Meeting in Utrecht I will tell more about the website.

In case of questions please send me an email.

Preliminary program ASM 2009 / Wk 19

E-mail Print PDF

The Preliminary program of the All Staf Meeting 2009 / 19th Workshop is available.

Due to too many proposed presentations in some sessions, some presentations are changed into posters. The order of the sessions is also changed on Tuesday (as afternoon sessions could be longer than morning ones).
All speakers are kindly asked to check the title of their presentations. Just let Jeanette Onvlee or Patricia Pottier know if your wish your title to be slightly changed (same for posters).

As the program is very dense, please pay attention to the duration of your talk when preparing your presentation : generally (but not always, please check on the program), 20 minutes for a talk questions included.

For more and updated information see the local organisation team's website.

joint ASM 2009 and 19th ALADIN Wk

E-mail Print PDF

The next joint HIRLAM All Staff Meeting (ASM) and ALADIN workshop will take place 12 - 15 May 2009 in Utrecht. The conference location will be the Centraal Museum, nicely located in the centre of the old city of Utrecht. The local organising team's website at KNMI provides practical information on the joint ASM 2009 and 19th ALADIN Wk .

The meeting is scheduled to start on Tuesday morning 12 May around 9h, and end on Friday 15 May around noon. As was the case in previous years, there will be a largely common program, based on joint thematic sessions (hopefully fully plenary, this time). In addition, a meeting of the HIRLAM Management Group and the ALADIN/CSSI will take place to discuss common plans and activities, on Monday 11 May and on Friday afternoon 15 May to wrap up any remaining matters.

Attached is a registration form for the ASM/Workshop. Those of you who wish to attend, are requested to fill in the form and send it by email to Jeanette Onvlee (for HIRLAM participants) or Patricia Pottier (ALADIN participants) before 1 April. The local organizers have set up a website which contains practical information on the venue of the meeting and on local accommodation: www.knmi.nl/samenw/harmonie . Later on, more information will be added on e.g. the programme setup, how to reach the various locations, etc.
